The House of Representatives will this week debate a motion seeking urgent medical intervention for the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is indeed in court today, October 8, 2025, as his trial resumes at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice James Omotosho is presiding over the case, and attendance has been restricted.

Kanu’s health has been a concern, with reports indicating he’s experiencing severe health issues, including tinnitus, sleep deprivation, and organ deficiencies. His lawyer has petitioned the World Medical Association, highlighting the deteriorating health situation. The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has submitted a report on Kanu’s health to the Attorney General, following a court-ordered examination.
