INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, has vowed that the President and Governors won’t influence the 2026 and 2027 elections. He emphasized that the commission is committed to organizing elections that are free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive. Amupitan outlined five non-negotiable pillars guiding INEC’s mandate and stressed that the 2027 elections must be technologically-driven and beyond reproach.
He also highlighted the importance of meeting the expectations of young, first-time voters who demand real-time transparency and have little patience for opacity. Amupitan warned that any compromise on INEC’s values or processes will attract consequences, ensuring no room for misconduct.
