Terrorism Financing: Bauchi Commissioner, Three others Denied Bail.

Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and three others have been denied bail by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in connection with alleged terrorism financing and money laundering offenses. The EFCC arraigned Adamu, Balarabe Abdullahi Ilelah, Aminu Mohammed Bose, and Kabiru Yahaya Mohammed on a ten-count charge, alleging they conspired to provide $2.3 million for the benefit of Bello Bodejo and associates, with approvals granted by Governor Bala Mohammed.

The charges include receiving cash payments totaling $6.95 million outside the banking system, violating Nigeria’s anti-money laundering laws. Adamu’s co-defendants were also accused of involvement in the alleged terrorism financing.

The court has adjourned the matter to January 20 for commencement of trial proceedings.
