A Federal High Court has ordered former AGF Abubakar Malami to remain in Prison custody pending a January 7 bail decision

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, will remain in Kuje Correctional Centre pending a January 7 bail decision. The Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the ruling on Malami’s bail application, along with those of his son Abdulaziz and wife Asabe Bashir, who are facing a 16-count charge for alleged money laundering amounting to ₦8.7 billion.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges Malami and his co-defendants conspired to conceal proceeds of unlawful activities using corporate entities and multiple bank accounts. They’re accused of acquiring properties in Abuja, Kano, and Kebbi using illicit funds.
