Vice President Kashim Shettima and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu attended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference 2025 in Lagos. Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour, while Sanwo-Olu welcomed him and other dignitaries, including Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa.

The conference, themed “Examining the Current Landscape of Terrorism Through the Lenses of Diplomatic and Military Action Strategy for Long-term Prevention and Stabilisation,” aimed to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s capacity to address security challenges. Key discussions focused on joint operations, inter-agency collaboration, and a whole-of-society approach to tackling terrorism and other criminalities.

The event also featured the unveiling of a book, “A Life of Service,” honouring the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja. President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare, professionalism, and operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.
