Nigeria Presidency has Dismissed US NGO’s Christmas Att+ck Alert as DSS Confirms Preventive Measures

The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed a warning from a US-based NGO, Equipping The Persecuted, about potential Christmas Day attacks in northern Nigeria, calling it “doubtful” and capable of creating unnecessary fear.

However, the Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed receiving intelligence on the planned attacks and has begun preventive measures. The alleged targets include Riyom, Bokkos, Kafanchan, and Agatu, areas that have experienced repeated attacks in 2025.

The Presidency’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, questioned the motive behind the alert, urging caution when circulating reports from external groups. Despite this, security agencies assure they’re prepared to ensure a peaceful Christmas season.

The US NGO’s founder, Judd Saul, claims terrorists are regrouping along Plateau-Nasarawa, Nasarawa-Benue, and Nasarawa-Kaduna borders, planning attacks on Christmas Day. The DSS acknowledges the pattern of attacks in these areas, especially during festive periods.
