Kebbi state Government assures parents of students’ safety and security after Maga abduction

The Kebbi State Government has assured parents of students’ safety and security after the Maga abduction. Governor Nasir Idris has initiated consultations with key stakeholders, including security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, and educationists, to review and reinforce security protocols in schools.

The government has also launched a search-and-rescue operation, with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Military, and local vigilante groups working together to track down the abductors and locate the students. The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, is personally leading the effort.

In a statement, Governor Idris’ deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, appealed to parents to remain calm, saying, “The safety of our children is non-negotiable. Government is working round the clock with relevant stakeholders to ensure schools are secure before reopening”.

The 25 abducted schoolgirls have since been released, thanks to a coordinated security effort led by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the State Security Service.
