According to exit polls, Trump won around 20% of the Black vote in the 2024 election, almost doubling his 2020 support. This is a notable increase, considering he received 13% in 2020 and 8% in 2016.
Trump’s support among Black voters was particularly strong in some swing states. For instance, in North Carolina, he received 12% of the Black vote, up from 7% in 2020. In Pennsylvania, he got 9% of the Black vote, a 2 percentage point increase from 2020.
Some experts attribute this shift to Trump’s economic policies and outreach efforts, particularly in urban areas. His campaign has emphasized job creation and economic growth, which resonated with some Black voters.
