The traditional ruler of Bayagan in Kwara State’s Ifelodun local government area, Alhaji Kamilu Salami has escaped captivity along with six other victims.

The traditional ruler of Bayagan, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, also known as the Ojibara of Bayagan, has escaped from captivity along with six other victims. He was abducted on Saturday while working on his farm by armed bandits who demanded a ransom of ₦150 million. The dramatic escape occurred on Sunday evening after local vigilantes launched a fierce attack on the bandits’ hideout in the forest.

According to reports, the Ojibara was transported for over five hours on a motorcycle through dense forest before arriving at the kidnappers’ camp. He has since contacted his community, confirming his safety and thanking vigilantes for their efforts.

The community is anxiously awaiting his safe return home, and security operatives are combing the forest to track down the fleeing kidnappers.
