The Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade has successfully foiled a bandit attack and rescued a kidnapped victim in Kogi State. The operation took place around Oshokoshoko and Obajana in Lokoja Local Government Area, where troops received credible intelligence about bandits moving abducted persons through the corridor.
The troops, deployed from the Kabba Patrol Base and working with hybrid security forces, laid an ambush and made contact with the armed criminals. The bandits opened fire but were overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, forcing them to retreat. One bandit was neutralized, and others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The rescued victim, found weak and distressed, was immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle during the operation. Further pursuit operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals.
The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal groups and ensuring community safety across Kogi State. Residents are encouraged to support security agencies with timely information to enhance prompt response and strengthen the fight against crime.
