5.5 Million Nigerian Households Now Receiving Cash Transfers-Federal Government Reveals

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that approximately 5.5 million households are currently benefiting from cash transfers and micro-credit schemes. This initiative aims to support vulnerable populations, including women and youths, across the country’s 774 local government areas.

Key Programs:

– Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT): Provides financial assistance to impoverished individuals
– Grant for Vulnerable Groups: Supports vulnerable populations
– N-POWER: Offers job training and education to young Nigerians
– Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP): Provides soft loans to artisans, traders, and market women
– Home Grown School Feeding Program: Provides meals to school children

The government has verified over 19.78 million households in the National Social Register and is working to strengthen systems addressing poverty, vulnerability, and humanitarian crises.
