The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a major breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking, recovering a massive stockpile of tramadol and codeine worth N6.7 billion in Lagos State. This operation is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the illicit drug trade, especially ahead of the Christmas season.
The sting operation led to the arrest of six suspects, including the alleged kingpin, Onyekachi Pius Nwanagu, and the seizure of 7,272,000 pills of tramadol 225mg and 53 million milliliters of codeine syrup. These substances were stored in a residential compound in Isheri, Lagos, and were intended for distribution across the country.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa, praised the officers involved in the operation, stating that it sends a strong message to drug cartels that Nigeria is no longer a safe haven for their activities. He emphasized that the agency’s focus remains on dismantling the financial and operational backbone of drug trafficking networks.
This significant seizure highlights the NDLEA’s commitment to protecting Nigerian youth and communities from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
