The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), until Friday, October 24, 2025. This follows Kanu’s decision to sack his entire legal team, comprising Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), and his intention to defend himself against the seven-count terrorism-related charge brought by the Federal Government.
Kanu has named 23 individuals, including governors, ministers, and security chiefs, as witnesses he intends to call to establish his innocence. The court will need to issue subpoenas to compel these witnesses to testify. The trial, which has been ongoing since 2021, is expected to proceed with Kanu representing himself, introducing new procedural challenges for the court.
