Nigeria and China have pledged to deepen cooperation in the marine and blue economy sector. The partnership aims to boost port development, particularly the Lekki Deep Seaport, and open new markets for Nigerian aquaculture exports. China has approved zero tariffs on Nigerian aquaculture exports, and an agreement is being worked on to export Nigerian aquacultural products to China.
The collaboration will also focus on marine resource management, port development, and capacity building. The partnership is expected to generate revenue, create jobs, ease congestion at Lagos ports, and position Nigeria as a key maritime hub in West and Central Africa.
