NAFDAC DECLARES BON BREAD SAFE AFTER SHELF LIFE INVESTIGATION

On April 13, 2026, a blogger posted a video saying a loaf of bread she had stayed fresh for over 2 months without molding. She didn’t name the brand at first, but BON Bread’s manufacturer, Food & Food Integrated Company Limited, said it was their product and denied any wrongdoing.

– Officials inspected the company’s Abuja bakery on April 20, 2026
– They collected bread samples from the factory and bought more from the open market for lab tests
– Lab results showed calcium propionate was used as preservative, and the amount was within Codex Alimentarius safety limits
– No harmful substances like bromate or non-nutritive sweeteners were found.

The agency said the company fully complied with food safety regulations and is not in violation of any rules. They also reminded the public to report food safety concerns to them directly instead of going straight to social media. 55c366b6

So BON Bread is cleared — the longer shelf life is from approved preservatives used within safe limits, not harmful chemicals.
