Ekweremadu’s wife returns to Nigeria after completing a prison sentence in the United Kingdom.

Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after serving about two years in a UK prison over an organ trafficking case. She was sentenced to four years and six months for helping to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian, Ukpo David, whose kidney was intended for their sick daughter. Her husband received a longer sentence of nine years and eight months, while a medical middleman, Obinna Obeta, got 10 years. Beatrice arrived in Abuja on January 21 to a warm reception from family and supporters, with celebrations expected in her Enugu State hometown. Ike Ekweremadu remains in prison in the UK.
