Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has decided not to present a defense in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism offenses. Kanu stated that after reviewing the case file, he believes there’s no valid charge against him and that he’s been subjected to an unlawful trial.
The court, led by Justice James Omotosho, has asked Kanu to file a written address supporting his claim and serve it to the prosecution. The judge also advised Kanu to consult criminal law experts to understand the implications of his decision.
The trial has been adjourned to November 4, 5, and 6 for the adoption of final written addresses.
