A total ransom of N450 million has been demanded by kidnappers for the release of Oba Simeon Olaonipekun, the Oniwo of Aafin, his son Olaolu, and eight other residents abducted from Adanla-Irese, a suburb of Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The kidnappers are demanding N150 million for the monarch and his son, while N300 million is being sought for the release of the other eight residents.
The abduction occurred on December 31, 2025, when gunmen stormed the royal palace, shooting the monarch’s wife, Felicia Olaonipekun, in the arm. The attackers also abducted eight residents from Adanla community on December 26, 2025.
Residents and community leaders are appealing to state and federal authorities to intensify security operations and ensure the safe release of the abducted victims.
