Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor, claims the Federal Government is using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to persecute him for refusing to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He alleges the EFCC is arresting and detaining his family members and government officials without evidence, describing it as unacceptable in a democratic society.
Mohammed, who is also Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, insists no amount of harassment will make him join the APC. He criticizes the Federal Government for not providing infrastructure development in Bauchi State despite controlling 51% of the country’s resources.
The EFCC recently charged Bauchi’s Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and others with terrorism financing and money laundering. Mohammed denies any involvement in terrorism, saying he’s been accused despite having constitutional immunity as a governor.
