William Troost-Ekong, the former Super Eagles captain, has received the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) national honour certificate from President Bola Tinubu. This recognition is a proud moment for Troost-Ekong and his family, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to Nigerian football.
Troost-Ekong expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honoured and grateful to His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for conferring on me the MFR national honour. Nigeria gave me my identity, my purpose, and the platform to live my dream through football”.
He also pledged his support for the Super Eagles as they begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, saying, “As promised, I’ll be supporting them all the way. I believe in this group, our nation, and what we can achieve”.
