The Federal Government has reopened all 47 Federal Unity Colleges that were shut down due to escalating insecurity across the country. The decision to reopen the colleges reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring Nigerian children have access to education in a secure setting.
The schools were initially closed in November 2025 following mass abductions of schoolchildren and attacks in several states. The Federal Ministry of Education has reassured parents, guardians, and students that the safety, welfare, and well-being of students remain the government’s top priority.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to stabilize the education system and promote national growth. The ministry has also implemented measures to guarantee a safe and conducive learning environment, including collaboration with security agencies.
