Governor Monday Okpebholo has presented a ₦939.85 billion budget, dubbed the “Budget of Hope and Growth,” to the Edo State House of Assembly for 2026. This budget focuses on key areas like security, infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare, aiming to boost economic growth and job creation.
Key Allocations:
– Capital Expenditure: ₦637 billion (68% of the budget)
– Recurrent Expenditure: ₦302 billion (32% of the budget)
– Economic Sector: ₦614.2 billion
– Social Sector: ₦148.9 billion
– Administration Sector: ₦157.7 billion
– Justice Sector: ₦19 billion
The budget will be funded through Internally Generated Revenue (₦160 billion), FAAC allocations (₦480 billion), capital receipts and grants (₦153 billion), and Public-Private Partnerships (₦146 billion).
Governor Okpebholo highlighted achievements in education, including recruiting 5,000 permanent teachers and upgrading 63 schools. The administration also plans to construct new roads, healthcare facilities, and boost agriculture.
