Rivers state Governor Fubara Defects To APC

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He announced this at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, citing the need for a more stable environment to govern Rivers State effectively.

This move comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State and signals a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. Fubara’s defection is seen as a strategic attempt to secure his position and potentially pave the way for a second term in 2027.

The PDP hasn’t released an official statement yet, but internal consultations are underway to assess the impact of losing their sitting governor. The APC, on the other hand, is expected to formally welcome Fubara soon.
