The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 51-year-old Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu for allegedly murdering his 19-year-old cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, in Nsukka. This shocking incident occurred just days after Loveth reported Emeka for sexual abuse, defilement, and threats to her life.

According to police reports, Loveth had been living with Emeka since 2019, when she was just 13, after his wife passed away. She alleged that Emeka had been sexually abusing her and restricting her communication with family and friends. Loveth had managed to escape and report the abuse to the police, but tragically, Emeka attacked and killed her at a pharmacy in Nsukka.

The police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, described the incident as a “gruesome and heartbreaking tragedy”. The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has condemned the killing, calling it “cruel, inhuman, and utterly unacceptable”. The police are urging the public to remain calm and allow investigators to conclude their work.
