Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, today  said the security situation in borno state has significantly improved, declaring that “the worst is over.”

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum declared that the security situation in Borno has significantly improved, stating “the worst is over”. He made this remark during a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, in Maiduguri. Zulum acknowledged recent attacks but emphasized that the current security landscape is far better than the peak of the crisis years ago.

The governor urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies, providing timely intelligence to prevent attacks and consolidate peace. He also commiserated with the Nigerian Army over recent tactical setbacks and praised soldiers’ bravery, describing them as national heroes.

Zulum has been advocating for a coordinated military offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP strongholds in the Lake Chad region, specifically targeting the Tumbus Islands, Mandara Hills, and Sambisa Game Reserve. He believes a joint operation involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force is crucial to ending the insurgency.
