A Federal High Court in Abuja has, for the second time, stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its National Convention, which was scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025. The court also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising, monitoring, or recognizing the outcome of the convention.
Justice Peter Lifu issued the order following an application by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who argued that he was denied the opportunity to purchase the Chairmanship nomination form and participate in the convention. The judge ruled that the PDP failed to comply with relevant conditions and laws for the conduct of such conventions, including publishing the timetable for members’ awareness.
