Federal Government condemns road vandalism, pledges quick completion of Abuja‑Kano highway.

The Federal Government has condemned acts of vandalism and misuse of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road, warning that such actions could threaten the longevity and safety of the project. Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello-Goronyo, emphasized the importance of protecting national infrastructure, stating that residents must take ownership and discourage harmful practices.

The government has set a 14-month target to complete the project, with a budget of N777 billion allocated for the remaining 282 kilometers. The road is expected to be built with concrete pavement, designed to last 50-100 years, and will include solar lights for safety and visibility.

The project is part of President Bola Tinubu’s flagship initiatives to strengthen economic integration between northern and southern Nigeria. The government urges stakeholders to focus on delivering a world-class highway, prioritizing quality and timely completion.
