Lagos state Commissioner of police has declared Sowore WANTED.

The Lagos State Police Command has declared Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, wanted for allegedly planning to incite public disorder and obstruct major roads in the state. The declaration was made by the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, who stated that Sowore and his associates were planning simultaneous demonstrations at strategic locations, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate, and Freedom Park.

Reasons for Declaration:

– Alleged Plot to Incite Public Disorder: Sowore is accused of planning to incite public disorder and obstruct major roads in Lagos.
– Intelligence Reports: The police received credible intelligence indicating plans by Sowore and his associates to stage demonstrations at key locations.
– Potential Consequences: The police warned that the planned protest could cause severe traffic disruptions and endanger lives.

Police Action:

– 13 Suspects Arrested: Thirteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the planned protest, while Sowore allegedly fled.
– Warning to Sowore: The police commissioner warned Sowore to surrender himself to the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found.
– Assurance of Safety: The police assured Lagos residents of their safety and urged them to continue their normal activities without fear.

Sowore has responded to the declaration, accusing the police of targeting him and other protesters. He has expressed readiness to meet with the Commissioner to address the issue.
