The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved N28 billion for electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to rollout free meters under the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) Tranche B scheme. This initiative aims to provide meters to unmetered Band A and B customers, reducing the national metering gap of over seven million customers. The funds will be disbursed among 11 DisCos based on their market contributions, with installation expected to be completed by December 31, 2025. This move is part of the Presidential Metering Initiative, targeting 10 million meters nationwide by 2030.
