The 18th Headies Awards is set for Toronto, Canada in October 2026. Exact date and venue are still to be announced.
Ayo Animashaun announced it on June 15, 2026 during “The Big Announcement” at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos. The theme for this edition is “Africa to the World”, focusing on how far Afrobeats has come globally.
Even though the main ceremony will be in Toronto, Nigerian fans won’t be left out. Organizers said there’ll be a live watch party in Lagos with selected award presentations happening there too, linked to the main show.
They’re also adding a first-ever Headies Trade & Investment Summit to support growth in the creative industry. Wakanow is coming on as a travel sponsor to help fans move between Lagos and Toronto.
This marks the third time Headies is holding outside Nigeria, after Atlanta hosted the 15th and 16th editions. The 17th edition was “Back to Base” in Lagos last year.
