According to the Kano State Hisbah Board, the marriage was conducted without parental consent and violated Islamic marital procedures, including:
– Insufficient Dowry: The marriage was contracted with a dowry of ₦10,000, which is below the minimum standard recognized in Islamic law
– Lack of Guardian: No credible guardian (wali) was present during the ceremony
– No Proper Witnesses: The witnesses present did not meet Islamic legal standards
The Hisbah Board has launched an investigation and urged parents to monitor their children’s social activities to prevent similar incidents.
