Dangote reassigns sacked refinery engineers to sugar and cement plants.

Dangote Group is reassigning engineers sacked from its $20 billion refinery project to other subsidiaries, including Dangote Sugar Refinery and Dangote Cement plants. This move is part of an ongoing restructuring effort, with the company citing strategic realignment and operational protection as reasons.

The affected engineers, who received extensive overseas training in advanced refining processes, will be reassigned based on their skills, experience, and current project needs. Some may be posted to Dangote facilities in Nigeria or internationally.

The decision follows a dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) over the dismissal of 800 workers allegedly fired for joining the union. The Federal Government intervened, and Dangote agreed to redeploy the sacked workers.

Dangote will also recruit new engineers to replace those reassigned, ensuring uninterrupted refinery operations. The company prioritizes protecting its investment and maintaining minimal error margins in refinery operations.
