NAFDAC Destroys ₦15 Billion Worth of Fake and Expired Drugs in Oyo State.

NAFDAC has taken a major step in protecting public health by destroying fake, expired, and substandard drugs worth ₦15 billion in Oyo State. The destroyed products include Analgin, Cocodamol, codeine cough syrups, tramadol, oxytocin, and falsified vaccines, posing significant health risks if consumed or circulated.

Key Highlights:

– Destroyed Products: Counterfeit, expired, controlled, unregistered, and banned medicines and medical products, with an estimated street value of ₦15 billion.
– Enforcement Operations: Recent operations led to the interception of fake consignments disguised as diclofenac, later confirmed to be anti-malaria drugs worth millions of naira.
– Arrests and Prosecution: Suspects linked to the shipments have been arrested and will face legal prosecution.
