Snapchat announce they will start charging $1.99-$15.99 per month for memories after users exceed a newly introduced 5GB limit.

Snapchat has introduced a paid storage plan for its Memories feature. Here’s what you need to know:
– Free Storage Limit: Snapchat is capping free Memories storage at 5GB. If you exceed this limit, you’ll need to subscribe to a paid plan to continue accessing your saved content.
– Paid Plans: Snapchat offers three storage plans:
    – 100GB: $1.99/month
    – 250GB: Included with Snapchat+ subscription ($3.99/month)
    – 5TB: $15.99/month with Snapchat Platinum
– Temporary Storage: If you’re already above the 5GB limit, Snapchat will provide 12 months of temporary storage before deleting excess Snaps.
– Downloading Memories: You can download your Memories directly to your device to avoid losing them.
– Why the Change?: Snapchat claims the paid plans will help cover infrastructure costs and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Memories feature.

The majority of Snapchat users won’t be affected, as most have less than 5GB of stored Memories. However, heavy users will need to assess their storage needs and consider subscribing to a paid plan.
