Peace Deal Collapses As Bandits Abduct 40 worshippers from a mosque located in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, this morning.

Bandits abducted 40 worshippers from a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, during morning prayers today, September 15, 2025. The attack occurred around 5:30 a.m., with the gunmen surrounding the mosque, holding people at gunpoint, and marching them away to the nearby forest around the Gohori axis in Tsafe.

This incident happens barely 24 hours after reports emerged of peace deals in parts of the North West, highlighting the fragility of such peace efforts. Community members expressed concern that the lack of unified command among armed groups undermines ongoing negotiations. A local source noted that “you can negotiate with bandits in Katsina while they continue to strike in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kaduna”.

The Zamfara Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the attack. Local vigilante groups are reportedly mobilizing to track the bandits in the forests. This incident deepens fears among locals and raises concerns about the effectiveness of ongoing peace arrangements in the region.
