Nigerians sending parcels to the United States will now pay $80 (or its Naira equivalent) in prepaid customs duty, effective August 29, 2025. This new charge is due to a US Executive Order suspending de minimis exemptions for postal shipments. The policy affects all countries sending parcels to the US and may cause delivery delays due to additional customs inspections. NIPOST is working with international partners to minimize disruptions. The change aims to restrict prohibited items and generate tariff revenues, potentially impacting cross-border e-commerce and small businesses.
