Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest airline, is set to launch direct flights from Lagos to São Paulo, Brazil, following a landmark agreement between Nigeria and Brazil. This development is expected to boost trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
The agreement was reached during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Brazil, where he held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The direct flights will strengthen diplomatic ties, open new corridors for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, reduce travel costs, and boost people-to-people connectivity.
The Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho. This move is seen as a strategic milestone in Nigeria’s global economic repositioning and a significant step in strengthening ties between Africa’s largest economy and South America’s biggest nation.
