Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has apologised to neighbouring countries for attacks carried out during Iran’s conflict with Israel and the United States, while declaring that the country will never surrender to its adversaries.
Speaking in a televised address on Saturday, Pezeshkian acknowledged that some of Iran’s military actions had affected nearby nations and expressed regret over the incidents.
“I apologise to the neighbouring countries that were attacked by Iran,” he said.
He also announced that Iran’s interim leadership had agreed to halt further attacks on neighbouring states unless Iran itself is attacked from their territories.
“The interim leadership council agreed yesterday that no more attacks will be made on neighbouring countries and no missiles will be fired unless an attack on Iran originates from those countries,” he said.
Despite the apology, the Iranian president made it clear that the country would not bow to pressure from its rivals.
Iran’s enemies, he said, “must take their wish for the unconditional surrender of the Iranian people to their graves.”
The apology comes after Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran on February 28 during the ongoing Iran–Israel–US conflict escalation 2026. The attacks reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and sparked a wider regional confrontation.
Following the strikes, Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US interests across the region, particularly in Gulf countries.
Pezeshkian is currently part of a three-member interim leadership council that has been governing Iran since the death of Khamenei.
