The California Supreme Court has rejected a petition to review the assault case involving rapper Tory Lanez. The decision leaves intact a prior ruling from the state’s 2nd District Court of Appeal and upholds his 10 year prison sentence. A Los Angeles jury found him guilty in December 2022 on three felony counts connected to the July 12, 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion. He was sentenced in August 2023.
At trial, Megan testified that she was shot in the feet following an argument after a gathering at Kylie Jenner’s home in the Hollywood Hills. In a written opinion, appellate justices stated there was “more than sufficient” evidence to support the jury’s verdict. With the state’s highest court declining review, the conviction remains in effect. The ruling brings another chapter of the long running case to a close while leaving the sentence unchanged.
