Sunshine Esther, a popular Nigerian skit actress and social media content creator, has sadly passed away at 26. She died on January 9, 2026, due to complications from fibroid surgery. Sunshine had been experiencing severe stomach pain since late December 2025 and was initially treated at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where she received pain relief due to a doctors’ strike. She was later transferred to Havilah Hospital, where the surgery was performed.
According to her friend Chidera Madu, the surgery was initially reported as successful, but Sunshine developed complications afterwards, leading to her death. Her family confirmed her passing on social media, requesting privacy during this difficult time.
