MRS Oil stations have started selling petrol at ₦739 per litre, following Dangote Refinery’s reduction of its gantry price to ₦699 per litre. This move is expected to bring relief to motorists, especially in Lagos, where petrol was previously selling for as high as ₦885 per litre.
Dangote Group’s president, Aliko Dangote, announced that the price reduction would be enforced, starting with MRS stations, and urged other partners to follow suit. He also criticized some marketers for maintaining high prices despite the refinery’s price cut, accusing them of sabotage.
The new price is part of Dangote’s efforts to stabilize fuel prices in Nigeria and promote local refining. The refinery has also reduced its minimum purchase requirement from 2 million litres to 500,000 litres, enabling more marketers to participate.
