Nigerian actress Doris Ogala has taken legal action against Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation International (also known as Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry), seeking ₦1 billion in damages for what she describes as a breach of promise to marry.
The dispute gained widespread attention in mid-December 2025 after a video of Pastor Okafor proposing to another woman went viral, leading Ogala to publicly accuse him of betraying her following an alleged eight-year relationship that began around 2017.
The Full Story
According to Ogala, the relationship started when she was going through challenges in her previous marriage and sought spiritual guidance from the pastor. She claims he promised to marry her, a commitment she says was strengthened over time through actions like introducing her to his family, attending events together, and building what she believed was a future as a couple.
In a pre-action letter from her lawyers, shared on social media on December 16, 2025, Ogala alleges that, relying on this promise:
▪️She ended her former marriage.
▪️She transferred significant sums of money to him, including ₦45 million in one transaction.
▪️She endured multiple miscarriages (which she says were falsely portrayed online as abortions), the loss of her brother, and severe emotional distress, including suicidal thoughts.
▪️Intimate photos and videos were shared without her consent, causing lasting reputational harm.
Ogala has described the pastor’s recent engagement and marriage as a deliberate and public betrayal that triggered panic attacks, professional setbacks in the entertainment industry, and intense online harassment.
She initially voiced her pain through emotional videos, a live interview with Daddy Freeze, and posts featuring alleged chat evidence. Reports also surfaced of her brief hospitalization after a reported suicide attempt following the engagement announcement.
