Trump Ends TPS for Ethiopia 🇪🇹✈️ — Ethiopians Ordered to Depart in 60 Days

The Department of Homeland Security announced today that it is terminating Ethiopia’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Secretary Kristi Noem cited improved conditions in Ethiopia as the reason for ending the designation.

A USCIS spokesperson said, “TPS designations are temporary and were never meant to be a ticket to permanent residency. Conditions in Ethiopia no longer pose a serious threat to returning nationals.”

Ethiopian nationals without another legal basis to stay in the U.S. have 60 days to voluntarily depart, with DHS offering tools like the CBP Home Mobile App, a complimentary plane ticket, a $1,000 exit bonus, and potential future immigration opportunities.

After Feb. 13, 2026, DHS may arrest and deport Ethiopian nationals who remain without status, with potential long-term consequences for future U.S. entry.
