Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has appointed Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), effective January 1, 2026. This follows the approval of a leave of absence for the current SSG, Professor Kenneth Kalu.
Dr. Meribole, a medical doctor and former Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, currently serves as Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects. His appointment is seen as a vote of confidence in his capabilities and alignment with Governor Otti’s developmental agenda.
A handover process will begin on December 15, 2025, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of government operations. Governor Otti expressed appreciation to Professor Kalu for his service and dedication to Abia State.
