President Tinubu has directed NIPSS to conduct a comprehensive nationwide security diagnostic.

President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) to conduct a comprehensive nationwide security diagnostic. This initiative aims to identify gaps in Nigeria’s security framework and provide actionable recommendations for reforms.

The focus areas include:
– Maritime Security: Addressing threats like piracy, oil theft, and kidnapping to boost the blue economy.
– Port Reforms: Enhancing management systems and security operations.
– National Security Architecture: Strengthening intelligence sharing and coordination among agencies.

NIPSS is expected to submit a policy paper outlining opportunities, challenges, and policy refinements. This move is part of Tinubu’s broader efforts to tackle insecurity, including recruiting 50,000 police personnel and deploying forest guards.
