Nollywood star and philanthropist Mercy Johnson Okojie has added her voice to the growing conversation on the Special Seats for Women Bill.

The bill aims to create additional seats in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly that only women can contest for, in order to increase the number of women in leadership.
For years, women have occupied less than five percent of legislative positions in the country. Supporters of the bill say it will give women a fair platform and help promote better representation, while the seats will still be openly contested by voters.
Mercy Johnson’s post shines more light on the need for inclusion and a stronger presence for women in politics across Nigeria.
