Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, has confirmed that Peter Obi is still a member of the Labour Party. He stated this while attending the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party, emphasizing that Obi attended coalition talks but hasn’t joined another party, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Baba-Ahmed’s clarification comes amid speculation about Obi’s future with the Labour Party, especially after the party endorsed Baba-Ahmed as its flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election, reportedly distancing itself from Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
