IGP Visits Kebbi After Maga Schoolgirls’ AbductionHis visit comes at a time when rescue operations are ongoing for the abducted Maga schoolgirls by security agencies.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has arrived in Kebbi State to oversee the rescue operations for the abducted Maga schoolgirls. His visit comes after a high-level security briefing with President Bola Tinubu, where the rising wave of kidnappings in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states was discussed.

Egbetokun is expected to meet with Governor Nasir Idris and address police personnel in the state. He has assured that the police will do everything possible to rescue the abducted girls, describing the attack on the school as an act of terror aimed at instilling fear and disrupting children’s right to education.

The abduction occurred on November 17, when gunmen stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, killing the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, and abducting several students. This incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with security agencies intensifying efforts to rescue the girls.
