Troops Des+roy Major B@ndits’ Camp, Recover Weapons in Taraba Operation

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have dismantled a major b@ndits’ hideout and recovered arms during a clearance mission in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The raid, carried out under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, was based on credible intelligence about the activities of cr+minal groups operating around the Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo communities.

According to a statement from the Army, the operation took place on Friday, October 31, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate b@nditry and restore peace in the area.

While advancing, the soldiers received fresh intelligence from Kofar Ahmadu village that the bandits had been sighted near TY Farm in Tati. Acting swiftly, the troops moved through Sabon Gida Tati and engaged the cr+minals in a firef+ght. The b@ndits eventually fled into the forest after facing heavy resistance.

Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the discovery and destruction of a major camp at TY Farm, denying the cr+minals a safe base. The troops also recovered a Dane g+n and other items from the site.

The Commander, 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their courage, professionalism, and prompt response. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in Taraba State and urged residents to continue sharing timely and reliable intelligence to support military operations.

The Nigerian Army noted that more clearance patrols are ongoing across identified flashpoints as part of its broader mission to rid Taraba State of b@ndit and terr+rist networks.
