PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF AND NSA, GENERAL ABDULLAHI MOHAMMED ADANGBA.

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Major General Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba, a former Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Yar’Adua, who died on November 5, 2025, at the age of 86. General Mohammed was a highly respected figure in Nigeria’s security and political establishment, known for his discipline, loyalty, and patriotism.

Key Highlights of General Mohammed’s Career:

– Pioneer Director-General of the National Security Organisation (NSO): He played a key role in establishing the NSO, which later evolved into the State Security Service (SSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).
– Chief of Staff: He served as Chief of Staff to Presidents Obasanjo and Yar’Adua, shaping the workings of the modern Nigerian Presidency.
– Governor of Benue-Plateau State: He served as Governor from 1975 to 1976, demonstrating his ability to govern with discipline and reform-minded leadership.
– National Security Adviser: He managed the transition to civilian rule in 1999 as National Security Adviser to General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

President Tinubu described General Mohammed as “a man of exemplary character, who combined the precision of a soldier with the prudence of a statesman,” highlighting his humility, efficiency, and commitment to the Nigerian project. Condolences have poured in from various quarters, including the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union and the Nigerian Armed Forces .
